Grand Socco is a square in Tangier city, located in the Medina, and separates it from the New City. The square, is the entrance to the Medina, gets lively and colorful in the afternoon when it turns into a market of various goods, foods and spices. It was officially called after the speech of Mohammed V on April 9, 1947, supporting the independence of Morocco, but this name is very rarely mentioned now.
