Gnaoua world festival is a four-day music festival held annually in Essaouira. Gnawa music is the main type of music but other players of Pop, Rock and Jazz players are invited to join. The festival was first held in 1998 as a special event for this Moroccan music which is loved by everybody and known worldwide. Over 500 000 people from all over the world attend each year.
