Atlas Mountains
The Atlas Mountains is a mountain chain in northwestern Africa which extends over Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia and covers a distance of 1600 miles. Toubkal, the highest peak in the Atlas Mountains and in north Africa as whole, is situated in Morocco, only several miles from Marrakesh city. Close to this mount, exists Imlil village as a good base for those who wish to climb Toubkal. Another thing worth mentioning about this mountainous range is "Tizi n Tichka" in Morocco, a mountain pass that links Marrakesh to Ouarzazate. Reaching an altitude of 2 260 m, it is the highest main mountain pass of north Africa.
